In that case, the best way forward might be to exclude that folder from
Windows Defender. That might also speed up your problems that you are running
in the Virtual Box.
Out of curiosity: Why are you running Octave inside a Windows Virtual Box on a
Linux host? Wouldn't it be much more convenient and faster to run Octave
natively on Linux?
