If it's just one colorbar call in L.165, why would you need a subfunction? I'd
say that just an if<verLessThan>-else-endif block at that location would
suffice ...

Subfunctions (i.e., outside of and following the main function ...
endfunction, have been working since ages, maybe even before 2007.
Nested functions, i.e. inside the main function .... endfunction block, are
supported since maybe 5 years or so, maybe a little longer.
