Hi Philip and Jaun,
My original problem has been solved it appears, but from your replies I’ve
begun to wonder about Octave packages in general. Are they supported only by
the original providers? This seems to imply that lasting code should never use
a package as the functionality from it may not persist. Is that actually the
case? Or are Octave.org packages somehow supported by the group?
I’m a new Octave user and I’m impressed by it. Certainly a beginner at
this point, but getting good use from it. I am a bit concerned over whether to
use packages though. Package releases are not tied to Octave releases,
correct? Shouldn’t a core group of packages that extend Octave’s
application be supported? Just curious how this works. Thanks.
