Which Linux distribution are you using? It doesn't crash for me with Ubuntu
25.10 (on amd64).

Does it also crash for `test ichol`?

If it does, can you attach `gdb` to the Octave process before you run `test
ichol`? What does `bt` show when `gdb` caught the crash?
