[bug #68150] Axis labels should be displayable also for invisible axes objects

Thanks @Rik, no more extraneous head here. I still don't know what I did wrong
(I had updated righ before importing/pushing the patch).

As for the label visibility when switching from 2D to 3D, my concern was about
the z-label, which is of in 2D and on in 3D.
