Suppose I create a directory and I set as the working directory in Octave:
cd('directory'). I do some stuff and then I delete the directory. Then if I
try to exit from Octave (exit() command, clic on the close button of the GUI)
or I try to execute any command (help, pwd, etc.) I obtain the error
error: unable to find current directory
I need to type
cd ..
in order to close the program
