I think this is a matter of interpretation. The algorithm for "ylim" is
looking at the y-data which encompasses [0, 1] and so the axes limits include
those values. The x-axis is independent of the y-axis and just because you
have narrowed the display with the *xlim* command doesn't change the fact that
the y-data still exists at (1,1).
What does Matlab do? There might be a difference between the two.
