Follow-up Comment #12:

The attached patch adds a warning when trying to enable the pager in the GUI
on Windows and adds a comment about that to the documentation of the `more`
function. Other than that, it is pretty similar to the previous patch.

I think that could go to the stable branch like that. 
It would enable the pager in the CLI on Windows again. Like discussed, it
would disable the pager in the GUI on Windows.
Doing that would avoid that the interface gets stuck completely.
