@Nicholas: This is a great changeset. I'm not sure why it languished here for
so long. Of course, it didn't apply cleanly since it was meant for Octave 8.
I updated the patch for current dev branch and including some small tweaks to
the Texinfo documentation and the input validation. See cset 4f63b09a19df.
I found that it wasn't returning the correct index when the *"rows"* argument
was used. I made a separate cset for that at ebeda8ac5dca.
Marking this bug as Fixed and closing report.
