Follow-up Comment #10, bug #68237 (group octave):

If I moved this file into empty directory and try to load there the time goes
down to 0.2 sec.

I wonder if you are doing it from directory that has many subdirs (with many
more subdirs) it searcher recursively for all those subdirs for the missing
classdefs?

In any case i cannot reproduce the extreme slowness, but I def see ~2x
difference depending on which directory I am trying to load this file from. 

Can you runs some profiler (I like
https://www.amd.com/en/developer/uprof.html)  or `strace` to figure out what
it is doing?
