The following code doesn't seem to change anything for me:

hf = figure ();
set (hf, "pointer", "fleur")

Choosing the pan tool, does change the pointer to "fleur", as expected, but I
think this is hard coded in C++ : that change in the pointer is not reflected
in the "pointer" property (this would count as another bug).

So the problem is not that Qt is unable to change the pointer, but rather that
the "pointer" property has no effect anymore, at least on my system : Octave
11.1, self built on Ubuntu 24.04 using Qt 6 from the package manager.
