[bug #68396] dbstop and dbstatus do not yet work with private functions

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #68396 (group octave):

I think I've seen the same for a long time, up to and incl. dev Octave 12.0.0,
but never thought much of it;  maybe also because I rarely use the 'dbstop'
and 'dbclear' functionality.

Another observation: after opening a private function in the GUI editor e.g.,
through the editor's File | Open menu, and then trying to add a breakpoint by
clicking in the left margin, Octave insists on adding the private/ subdir to
the search path.  That is s/th I use a lot, and AFAICR it has been this way
for years.

It could very well be that these are all symptoms that are due to the same
underlying issue.

Seeing that you tagged it as 'Matlab Compatibility' issue, did you test to see
that Matlab does it 'right'?
