Follow-up Comment #14, bug #68529 (group octave):

I also think that Octave's behavior is now correctly restored.
The script (either as m-file or "F9-ed") provokes an error in Octave-8.3.0
("error sourcing selected code") and no error in Octave-8.4.0.

I suppose this bug report can be closed.
