I can reproduce this with control-3.2.0 and get:

octave:1> pkg load control
octave:2> s=tf('s');
octave:3> g=1/(s+1);
octave:4> pzmap(g);
error: __zero__: function called with too many inputs
error: called from
    __zero__
    zero at line 140 column 23
    pzmap at line 78 column 7

This file where this is triggered is @lti/zero.m
but I'm not familiar enough to understand that this should be called.
