ncdisp and ncinfo not working

Hello,

I am trying to use the functions ncdisp and ncinfo to view the contents of a
"*.nc" file but keep getting the error message "error: 'xtype' undefined
near line 41 column 57
error: called from
    nc2octtype at line 41 column 3
    ncinfo>ncinfo_var at line 175 column 16
    ncinfo>ncinfo_group at line 233 column 21
    ncinfo>ncinfo_group at line 254 column 7
    ncinfo at line 129 column 8
    ncdisp at line 25 column 6".

Has anyone able to resolve this error and how was it resolved?
