Using Octave on Microsoft Surface

I installed the latest Octave on a Surface using the *.exe.  It works 
fine.  Thanks to the developers.

I tried using Octave in the tablet mode with a stylus.
I started Octave.  I 'clicked' on the windows keyboard icon.  The entry 
pop-up appeared.  I entered '3+2' and 'clicked' return.

The '3+2' did not appear in the Octave command line. However,Octave did 
recognized the return and a new line with prompt appeared.

Any ideas how I can help Octave recognize the stylus input?
