zooming into gnuplot: spacing of tics not updated

Hello,

with version 5.2.0 and 6.2.0 I noticed that when plotting with graphics_toolkit('gnuplot') and zooming into the plot using the mouse, tics/grid do not get updated to a finer grid, which means there is little or no information about which values are displayed. This does not happen with version 3.2.3.

plot(1:5, 1:5)
...with 3.2.3 initially shows tics every 0.5 and they get refined when zooming in.
...with 6.2.0 initially shows tics every 1 and they get do not get refined when zooming in. So after zooming between 2 and 3 on the x axis, no tics are visible.

Is there a way of making 6.2.0 behave like this very old version?
All this refers to Win10.

Best regards,
Jens
