Code issues encountered while installing octave7.1

What Linux distro do you use?

Some time ago I reported this issue in the bug tracker [*]; it turned 
out that the distro I use (Mageia) has removed uncompress2 from zlib. I 
reported that here in Mageia's bug tracker:

I think your only option is to build & install zlib yourself from 
source; easily done if you have Octave's build tools installed anyway.
