Octave GUI MinGW first light & need help.

I got first light.

I have a problem though. My method of displaying the output of octave is to
redirect octave_cout and cerr to a strstream and display the contents of the
strstream in the window after the call. This is the method documented in the
embed.cc sample, and it works in Linux but it doesn't work with this octave.

Any ideas?
