I also get
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lqscintilla2-qt5
when configuring a build of Octave from the development repository in
Ubuntu 20.04, but it nevertheless compiles and tests fine, so while
there is a problem with detecting this library, that is likely not
what's causing your build to fail.
What error message do you get?
