Re: GSL special functions

  That's a good idea, wrapping the GSL special functions for Octave.

On the question of an authoritative source of values, I reckon 

	M. Abramowitz & I. Stegun, editors, Handbook of Mathematical Functions, 		
	Dover, 1965

is pretty hard to beat.  When I write a subprogram to compute a special 
function I usually also write a test script to reproduce one of the tables of 
values from Abramowitz & Stegun.

The [U.S.A.] National Institute of Standards and Technology, is working on an 
electronic update to the Handbook at http://dlmf.nist.gov, but it's not ready 
yet.
