I've attached an Octave interface to Prof. Csendes' GLOBAL algorithm for bound constrained continuous global optimisation. The tarball contains minor patches to Csendes' C source and the Octave interface, fminbnd_global.cc. Note that you'll need to separately obtain the GLOBAL source code from Prof. Csendes, follow instructions at http://www.inf.u-szeged.hu/~csendes/reg/regform.php 1. fminbnd_global.cc, which is the Octave C++ interface to GLOBAL C code. 2. patch to globdef.h, which comments out some unused macros and one macro, RaNdOmIzE() that is defined in fminbnd_global() instead (see below). 3. patch to global.c, which removes intermediate output (logging) and removes the definition of urdm(). Instead, urdm() is defined in fminbnd_global() and makes uses of the uniform random number generator in Octave. This is currently the very good Mersenne Twister algorithm if I'm not mistaken. 4. f2_.m which tests the call to GLOBAL from Octave, using test function f2_(). This is similar to f1_() but allows for extra arguments to be passed.
