bug#24351: Crash When Adding Partition

Sir:

   I was attempting to add a partition using parted and had done so, 
when I used <sudo partprobe -s> to have the modified partition table 
re-read, when a crash occurred. The following message appeared:

version 3.2 Assertion (metadata_length > 0) at 
../../../.libparted/labels/dos.c:2313 in function \
add_logical_part_metadata() failed

I am running Ubuntu 16.04 on a Gateway NV55C
