Gplc compiling problem

Hi

I want to make a abcd.exe from my abcd.pl.
Gplc gives me error under windows 2000.
I can make 
Abcd.wam
Abcd.wbc
Abcd.asm
Abcd.ma

But I can not make abcd.s  or abcd.o

Do I need a c++ compiler and an assembler?
Any help will be appreciated.
