The setup-gprolog-XXX.exe auto-install is compiled with MSVC++ 6.0, if 
you want to create an executable then you need this compiler. You also 
need the nasm assembler (which is free can can be get on the net).

You can also install cygwin (a Unix emulator), and the compile the 
source distribution (a gprolog-XXX.tar.gz file). It will be compiled 
using gcc. At run-time you need the cygwin dlls
