Why link libz into radius?

Hi,

One of the changes that has been made recently, is the linking to libz.
There seems to be a relation to libmysqlclient, but I can't figure out
what that relation is. Are there libmysqlclient versions that require
the linking to libz? My system doesn't anyway, so linking to libz would be 
totally unneccessary for me I think. For the latest CVS version of gnu-radius,
I had to install libz on my test radiusserver for getting things to work.
