Querying escape of a detached session

Is there a way to know the escape setting of a session from a
process not running in it ?

The goal is to avoid reattaching a session whose escape contains
a non-ASCII (>= 0x80) character into a terminal that cannot
produce it (E.G. a UTF-8 terminal).
