omit .bash_profile on C-a C-c

Hello,

the only thing I don't like about screen is its name, as it ist horrible
bad for google.  Maybe I am very brain dead, but I can't figure this
out.  Here we go:

frank@harbard [~] $ screen -v
Screen version 4.00.01 (FAU) 18-Sep-03
frank@harbard [~] $ bash --version
GNU bash, version 2.05b.0(1)-release (i686-pc-linux-gnu)
Copyright (C) 2002 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
frank@harbard [~] $

At the last line of ~/.bash_profile I do 'screen -dR', which works as
expected: runs screen immediately after login.  Any C-a C-c sources this
file again, so screen complains 'Attaching from inside of screen?'  What
I understood (obviously wrong) from the bash man page ~/.bash_profile is
only read when bash 'is invoked as an interactive login shell'.  Why is
screen calling a login shell?  How can I prevent doing so?  Any other
options to start screen directly after login?
