Hi folks. I am running the cygwin-patched version of screen-3.9.15, as can be found here: http://home.tiscali.de/emilio.lopes/screen/screen.html And I am running the latest version of cygwin under XP, i.e.: soggywulf% uname -a CYGWIN_NT-5.1 soggywulf 1.5.5(0.94/3/2) 2003-09-20 16:31 i686 unknown unknown Cygwin Like many of you, I have problems reattaching screens on this cygwin system. The problem unfortunately appears somewhat random and non-reproduceable--i.e. one moment 'screen -r' hangs completely, and the next time I try it may reattach the same screen just fine. I have learned a couple things: 1) If you are logged in via a remote ssh terminal, your chances of reattaching are much lower--but not impossible. 2) If you have just tried a 'screen -r' and it hangs, do the following. Close the window with the hung screen. Use 'screen -ls' to find the process IDs of your detached screens. 'kill -9' the 'screen -r' process, which has a new process number not the same as any of the detached screen process numbers. Be careful not to kill any of your original detached screens. Exit all open shells. Now open a new shell (either locally or remotely), and try reattaching again. Rinse and repeat until screen finally reattaches.
