It does. Actually Sven's solutions spawns a new window, too. But just
one window and it "goes away" as soon as you hit a key.

Yes, that's how it's supposed to work. But have a look how the
"caption" line "goes up" when do it that way:

It's broken in a rxvt window (Cygwin and Linux) and in a normal
Windows console window. On a Linux console with screen it works
perfectly.
(It's only broken when screen calls cmatrix with "blankerprg" not when
I manually execute cmatrix).
