well, i got a debian, too.  however, none of these work here.

  guckes@home:~> sudo screen
  /var/run/screen/S-root/8634.pts-0.home: No such file or directory

  guckes@home:~> su -c screen
  Password:
  /var/run/screen/S-root/8634.pts-0.home: No such file or directory

  guckes@home:~> su - noguckes -c screen
  Password:
  Cannot open your terminal '/dev/pts/5' - please check.
  guckes@home:~> ls -l `tty`
  crw-------    1 guckes   tty      136,   5 Mar 18 21:10 /dev/pts/5

so - anyone?
