bug in sh-utils-2.0.11-14 /bin/date run under Red Hat Linux release 7.3 (Valhalla)

Hi,

When started by cron, the following crashes:
* * * * * /bin/date 'Hello %c'

complaining about cannot find endquote

If you try
* * * * * /bin/date 'Hello \%c'
the backslash appears in the output bur forestalls the error.

What is going on please?
