I'm a former maintainer of the downstream package in Fedora distribution.
I only build it. I have no use of it. I forwarded your message to current
maintainers of sharutils in Fedora and RHEL as I worry they are not subscri=
bed
to the list.

Probably. Last time I saw a bug report for sharutils from a user was 2018.
Reasonable people do not deliver archives as executables.
