[VCDImager Bugs/Devel] Compilation error on Intel-Linux

I am trying to compile vcdimager on Slackware 9.0 (Intel Pentium4) with
gcc-3.2.2. I get the following compiler error:

vcd_files_private.h:364: flexible array member in otherwise empty
structure

The same message is repeated from other lines in vcd_files_private.h, then
the compilation aborts.

This looks like an incompatibility of the compiler version (?)
Does anybody know a workaround?
