In CVS for vcdimager, I've added the option --without-versioned-libs
which (as it does in the recently released libcdio 0.67) avoids the
linking processing that you've been having problems with.

I don't understand Mac OSX well enough or the ins and outs of the
version symbol processing to feel confident enough to devise a more
automated procedure for determining when to include or exclude.

However if you or others do and want to submit patches, we'll consider
them. Until then, folks can use --without-versioned-libs.
