There is also the distributed model viewer that Greg wrote many year ago
in the tree. cr/prog/parallel_modelview. That was used for the original
chromium paper to get the powerplant up on our now ancient graphics
cluster ('Chromium' with Geforce2's and 800MHz P3's). This app does
what Sean suggests in that it builds display lists, but it is also setup
to have multiple app nodes submit geometry to the system to distribute
overall load.
