In the past, Perl shipped with MSYS was incompatible, causing strange
line-ending borkment. I don't know if this is still true, but you
might try ActiveState Perl.

There doesn't seem to be any error message in the pasted excerpt. Very
likely, the error message appeared earlier in the build output.
