Guys, I think it couldn't hurt to talk with Adobe and see if they're interested in using Crystalspace as their official 3d engine. Flash is a great language which is very similar to C/C++ and I picked it up in just a few weeks. Working on 2d games is like a walk in the park after my few years working with CrystalSpace. Flash is good for games people aren't willing to download for risk of infecting their computer with a virus. Sure the chances of Adobe picking up CrystalSpace is very slim, but the fact remains: Adobe has to pick a 3d engine for Flash soon, so why not CrystalSpace? If CrystalSpace was adopted by Adobe, it'd be a boon for the community, as there would be a lot of money rolling in. I'm getting my first video game published in maybe a month and a half. It is a Gauntlet style game. I'm with a crew of people who are trying to make a stab at the video game market through Flash. Our plans is to go 3d in a few years even if we have to write the code from scratch. But since we're a bootstrap company, we don't have the funds to do 3d right now. I was just thinking how cool it'd be if CrystalSpace 3d was the solution. But more importantly, how good it'd be for Jorrit if he could get a deal with Adobe for a piece of the Flash pie himself. That could be a deal worth tens of millions. ,CrazyJim ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ThinkGeek and WIRED's GeekDad team up for the Ultimate GeekDad Father's Day Giveaway.
