I don't usually respond on this list, and I'm not sure if I have full context of the problem, but I stumbled over this email, and I know Blender's APIs allow you to write an importer in the same way you can write an exporter. This would not require you to know the Blender format, but just the Blender APIs. Of course, I still don't know if it's useful to import CS into Blender.
