how about this: i can make a movie of it starting out static, then
learning to crawl, and then hobbling upright on its hind legs.

perhaps a movie with your name on it would help you make your case.
what else would you need?

like, let's get real.. what could be more immersive than being
stalked by a bounding fluidiom bunny monster? how about having to
switch to first-person-shooter mode in order to slay the beast, with
each shot deleting an interval until it collapses to the ground as a
writhing hopeless (hopless) bunny before you consume the remains to
top up your own fuel supply? what's an immersive virtual world
without wildlife? :)

maybe get them interested in helping me evolve structure and movement
both from scratch, or putting senses, reflexes, and maybe brains into
these prefab critters.

hell maybe we will get to a point where gangs of grimy sweaty urban
gamblers gather together in the basement of a restaurant to bet on
the winners of a battle-to-the-death of the two virtual creatures,
delivered to the "neutral" computer through USB memory sticks that
are retrieved from velvet-lined hardwood boxes decorated with gang
shields, evolved to perfection in their respective zooming
underground clustered computers. feverish cheering and booing while
they all spill their beers and watch the many dusty video screens
where the gorey virtual drama takes place. what? no, nurse, no it's
not time for my pills yet.
