i'm sure there's xmms for MacOS X and i'm sure MacOS X supports the
sort of queueing i used. I could write similar iTunes plugin, if mr
Stock would give me an account on his mac in the lab ;-)

People who don't want technical details, click "Next unread message" ;-)

to make it portable to DOS [where as far as i know there's no such
thing as FIFO] we could make UDP plugin which would send each VU-Meter
chunk as a UDP packet. That will also make it possible to send packets
from other machine via network.

i dont know in java, but in POSIX reading from UDP socket isn't any
different from reading from a pipe, only opening differs - shouldn't
be much work for you.
