it seems i just had some bad luck.  i had put the program up, seen a 
number of people test it, and then announced it.  shortly afterwards 
the JOGL server went down on scheduled and announced maintenance.  i 
just missed the announcement.

anybody who tried yesterday and failed.. please try again now.
