greetings, Fluidiom fans!

this is a really interesting advancement indeed! it's like artificial life!

i developed the idea of muscle contractions happening at different points on
the clock and with different widths (in minutes), and then created a simple
program without visualization which evolved randomly-mutated structures so
that they were selected by survival-of-the-fittest. their goal was to run as
far as possible away from their starting point at (0,0,0), or in other words
"run for your life!!". :)

after a good number of generations (overnight zooming on the laptop), i get
creatures that can move themselves in very fascinating and sometimes
unexpected ways. it's clear that the evolved movements are much more
interesting and sophisticated than movements that you might program yourself.

personally, i find it breathtaking to see creatures i've built, which
initially just stand there, evolve into such life-like beasts without any
human intelligence to help them. they just capitalize on fortunate mistakes,
and discard unfortunate mistakes.

if anybody's interested in doing this evolution on their own machines, let me
know. i could set it up to make it easy. i'd be happy to chat here on the
list about what's going on and how it works.

if you have a reasonable machine, with a 3d-accelerated graphics card (most
modern ones are), you can watch the first bunch of evolved creatures here:

click "Launch Fluidiom", and make sure it downloads the latest version.
note that some of you may have to install the Java Runtime Environment first.
