There must come a point where it's not sensible to try to make gnuplot
cope with data that's not in a wholely-valid consistent format.

I'd say it'd be better for people whose data has missing elements to use
some sort of scripting language to fix the data, the way they want it to
look, before passing it to gnuplot.
