I was focused on explaining why normal using specifiers don't work for
binary array data.

What I didn't think to point out was that for the specific case of a
constant offset, as in your example, you don't need a using specifier:

  splot "sincos.float32" binary array=(90,100) format="%float" origin=(0,0,100) with lines
