With the newest TeXLive (20240312 on Cygwin) gnuplot documentation can no
longer be created since

    \usepackage{ucs}
    \usepackage[utf8x]{inputenc}

produces errors in internal TeX packages down the line.  I have not
found an invocation that circumvents this problem yet…
