It would be a great convenience if the import of RAW images would recognize IPTC metadata stored in the image's associated XMP file. This would have the additional benefit of getting around the problem of attaching metadata to proprietary RAW files by storing it in the iMatch database. I'm not sure how widespread the use of Photoshop's Camera RAW converter is, but it stores the image settings for every converted image in it's own database. If you use Photoshop on multiple machines, this information can instead be saved in an XMP file so it can travel with the image. Conversion exposure settings and all of the IPTC metadata Photoshop allows us to enter also travels in this XMP file. Adobe's opened this standard up to anyone who wants to use it so there ought not to be any licensing required to take advantage of it. I'd like to see other applications take advantage of it, and I'd *love* to be able to take advantage of this metadata in iMatch.
