Sorry if this has been answered. I searched the archives and see
that it has been asked but I could not find an answer, so I will try
again.
IMatch Version: 3.4.0.30
Working with: Nikon D70 NEF
Function: Tools -> EXIF Import
Problem: Nikon maker note fields do not import
Summary: Using EXIF import function, mapping standard and custom
maker fields to Image Property fields, import appears to work
correctly for standard EXIF fields does populate fields mapped using
maker field variable name syntax.
Steps:
1. Used Property Database Editor to add new image properties for
EXIF info, including some standard EXIF fields such as exposure and
F-Stop plus a few maker specific fields, for example 'EXIF_Lens',
type String
2. Used Tools -> EXIF Import
3. Selected 'Import files from selected folder', and selected folder
containing Nikon D70 NEF files
4. Went through list of image properties added in step one, used
drop-down list to select the corresponding standard EXIF fields for
mapping into standard EXIF fields.
5. For custom 'maker' EXIF fields, typed in the maker EXIF variable
name next to the IMatch Property name as per instructions on the
dialog. For example, in the EXIF_Lens IMatch Property,
typed 'Image.EXIF.nik Lens Information'. (Maker field names obtained
by displaying EXIF information for an image and copying it to the
clipboard for reference.)
6. Unchecked 'Update only empty properties' and checked 'Ignore
empty EXIF fields'.
7. Clicked OK to begin import. Observed progress dialog, operation
completes successfully with no error messages.
8. Selected an image from the selected import folder, in the
thumbnail view, displayed the Property tab for the image in the
Properties view at the bottom. Observed that the EXIF_Lens (mapped
from Image.EXIF.nik Lens Information) is empty. Observed that other
standard EXIF fields are correctly populated.
Any help greatly appreciated. Used the Scripts to create a category
by lens type, which sort of solves the problem, but I'd like to be
able to import some specific maker info into the IMatch database.
P.S. Just purchased IMatch after trying several other applications
(and buying a couple) and IMatch is just about perfect. No
comparison to any of the others I looked at.
