Thanks all for the input.  After thinking about what was said I think
multiple folders are best.  The one folder workflow would fine if I
burned to DVD regularly but I don't.  I back everything up to a remote
drive frequently but burning DVDs is a pain so I put it off.  Multiple
folders by date and event/location is the best.
