Thanks for the reply.  The boutique developers appear to be wanting to leave yahoo and the excellent two-communication.  There are list servers (phplist comes to mind).

The expectation that users will "check the site" is ridiculous.  So much for feedback and customers helping others.  Looks like Mario will get his dream of minimizing email activity.
